Taters in a Bucket results

Well, my experiment with taters in a bucket was not such a great success. I personally have not figured out why, but I can guess.

First, did you know that you shouldn't replant potatoes where you last put them? They will probably get a disease and die, I do not know why. So, you have to rotate that crop every year. So, my most logical assumption is that there was a disease of some sort that liked to eat my taters instead of letting me do it. The next assumption I put out there was that the soil was too heavy. I really don't think much of that idea, but there you go. Oh, and yeah, I probably didn't water them enough too.

My friend Laura did the same thing with much the same results. We planted the potatoes and they grew, but then just kind of wilted away. Her red potatoes did the same as mine and produced just enough for one meal for 2 people. The yukon gold potatoes just didn't do anything. Oh, well. More research might help for next year, we will see.......

Cantaloupe for Breakfast

If you look back a couple of posts or maybe one, I can't remember, you will see a picture of some cantaloupes. Several days ago, I looked and one had fallen off the vine. (HUGE gasp!!) I hoped and hoped that it would go ahead and finish ripening so we could eat it. Well.....This morning Alan cut it up and we ATE IT!! I did very good growing this accidentally ocurring fruit plant that is now in my tummy. YUM, YUM!!

I am also sitting in my kitchen with the door and windows open letting in this wonderfully fall like breeze. As I stood making coffee this morning in my newly arrived coffee pot, letting the breeze play over my face, I said to Alan, "When people say why is fall your favorite season?", "This right here is all you need to know why." It is amazing.

Tired today but better after a good nights rest!!
