Let me introduce you to Peter
This is Peter. Isn't he cute? I need to tell you the story of how I happened to find this little guy. Last Tuesday I was driving my nephew to basketball camp, pretty early, just a little after 8 a.m. At the intersection right in front of Jacobson park, where we were preparing to turn left, Mckenzie suddenly says, "Mom, did you see that!!!!" I hadn't seen anything but she goes on to say, "This kitten just jumped out of the wheel of that red truck!!". I look over and sure enough this little kitten was just frozen on the side of the road. Seeing how small it was, I just couldn't let it stay there and possibly get hit by a car. So, I wait for traffic to go by, praying that it would stay hidden in the tall grass that it had finally gotten enough wits to head toward.

I pull over on the curb and make the kids stay in the car. I wasn't sure if it was hurt and if it was I didn't want the kids to see anything. So, I approach it and there it is all crouched down hiding and scared to death. It meows at me a little and I reach down to pet it to make sure that, one it wouldn't bite me, and two that it wasn't injured. I didn't want to pick it up and hurt it more if that was the case. It meowed some more and starting moving away. I watched it move and saw that it was moving ok and then started going after it so that it wouldn't be left in the park to fend for itself. This is where it gets kind of funny. It moves a little and I go after it. With it still being scared it moves away more. I am giggling at myself because I am chasing this little cat into Jacobson park and people are going by and must think I am a complete nut. He climbs a tree and I think that if he gets up there I am just gonna leave him. When he gets just above my head he falls back out and heads right back toward the busy road. I am scared he is gonna run into the traffic. He goes under my car and I run to the other side hollering and stomping and clapping trying to keep him from coming all the way through.

To make a long story short, he got up into my wheel well and Mckenzie and I get hold of him. We wrap him in a towel and drive him all the way to Southland Christian Church and back. I got him all set up in our laundry room, due to Emily, our cat, she will eat him!! As you can see from the picture there to the left (that is him sleeping on Meaghan) he is doing well. If anyone is in the market for a pretty little male cat named Peter, we have one. He is really sweet too. His purr motor is pretty large and his meow is like a squeak. He loves Emily even though she hisses and swipes at him. He hasn't decided about Angus yet, but I think he would love him if he gave him a chance. I know Angus loves him - HA!! I mean that in a good way. Angus would probably curl up with him and lick him and think he was the best buddy in the world.

Just thought I would share our adventure.

Same as on Garden Escapades.....
Here is the first fruits of my garden. I went outside to pull weeds and discovered a wonderful treasure. You can see two small tomatoes beside the green beans, there used to be three, and those are "cherry" tomatoes. They were the size of small roma's, not cherry tomatoes. I think I did something right there - HA!! And they taste good too!! I will have to wash and break up the beans and cook the tomorrow. We had just visited Alan's parents house and his mom had cooked us up a mess with some small new potatoes. They are all gone, didn't take long. Hopefully I can do half as good as her at cooking them. I checked the cucumber plants too - I saw some that will be ready probably by Monday. I don't like for them to get too big, they taste better when they are small. Just wanted to share that since I haven't been on here much. There is more, just not in the mood to do more at the moment.

Happy growing!!

Here is my blog. It is the thoughts and feelings of an "aging," homeschooling housewife who serves at a local restaurant. I am an average everyday normal kind of person, although my "normalness" becomes less so in today's society. Read on and enjoy or just realize you may not be the only one.
