What are we doing to ourselves?
God has been amazingly faithful to my family through this "hard" time. Understanding new employers, hospital bills paid for, a doctor who will take payments, just the possibility of some more bills being taken care of. My In-laws are the best, they just give and give and they love me like a daughter. My mom has gone way over and above, friends of my sister, cousins on Alan's side, and prayers, prayers, prayers. I hope I can keep all this in the forefront of my mind so that when I want to complain or doubt, that I will remember and keep my mouth shut. This gives me hope for what could be, even if it seems impossible now. This isn't what I wanted to blog about, I just wanted to give a big thanks to Gods goodness.

I have sort of mentioned this topic before and it just really stands out sometimes and then I think and ponder on it and want to just talk about it. The thought of, "What are we doing to ourselves?", enters my mind quite regularly. Seriously, children aren't disciplined, or given guidelines, are spoiled and pampered, and then they have no clue how to really function in society. Or, maybe, that is how society is going, and I don't care for that thought.

One of the first things that brought this to my attention recently was work. I had been training in one store and they moved me to another. Wanting to be good in my job, and because I care, I regularly call people out on things. If you know me you know I am a very nice, kind and caring person. When I ask things of people, first I wouldn't ask them to do anything I wouldn't do myself, I ask politely. When I tell them not to do something I smile and kindly remind them they aren't allowed to do that, then if they don't stop I get really serious. Guess what they call me at that new store? Mean and uptight!! I could seriously roll around on the floor laughing at how WRONG that is. I am the first person to great them by name, ask about then and really care how they are. It boils down to me being new, them not being held accountable, and change being unwanted.

Driving is the second thing that makes me throw up my hands and say, "What is that?". What is sad is that I have, in the past, committed such acts, shame on me. Yesterday and the way to work a ford truck went barreling around, (right behind to right in front) me just to turn within 100 feet. We just seem to always be in a hurry, with no thought of anyone but ourselves.

Shopping, I mean now is the time of year when we are supposed to be nice to each other, what only this time of year? Now it is even inconvenient to do it at all. People coming out of isles and almost hitting you and then looking at you like you offended them. The last time I had any one say excuse me was just last week but it had been months before then.

I just think it is a shame that we have become such a self centered nation. It is all about making more and more money. Having all the things we are told we need. The country in general is for the rich and no longer for the regular people. We spend billions of dollars in other countries and we have people here who can't afford health care or food or all manner of necessities. And when you need help, do you have any clue how hard it is to get it? 50 years ago, if someone needed help, where do you think they got it? From friends, neighbors, church and even strangers. Now days that does not happen. I think I want to go back to a simpler more caring time!!

Here is my blog. It is the thoughts and feelings of an "aging," homeschooling housewife who serves at a local restaurant. I am an average everyday normal kind of person, although my "normalness" becomes less so in today's society. Read on and enjoy or just realize you may not be the only one.
