WARP tour observations
Took the two oldest girls to the Warp Tour yesterday. ALL DAY!! It stared at 11 am and went until the last band played at 8p.m. Now I know that isn't a full work day, but when you aren't used to being outside for that long sweating profusely with no real place to sit and rest comfortably, it is a damn long day. I saw a lot of things, the best being Joan Jett and the Blackhearts!! Seriously, I could see the whites of her eyes!! And she is really skinny. HA!!

Let me start off the list of observations with the biggest revelation I had. According to what I saw, how people dressed and what those people looked like, I am pretty damn hot. I could have walked in there with a belly shirt and boy cut shorts and fit right in. The exception to that would include the alteration of my hair color and adding multiple tattoos and piercing. OH, and not had kids with me, no other than them being totally embarrassed that one would have been ok. Don't get me wrong some people look pretty cool with tattoos and piercings, but a lot of people I saw there yesterday were wanna be cool people - HA!!

1. I saw a boy probably Meaghans age or younger smoking pot not 5 feet from me and smelled it numerous times when the police weren't close by.
2. At least 2 people fainted from the heat within my site and there was one asthma attack.
3. Young people have not been taught courtesy of any kind or they just don't care to have any.
3. Mosh pits are of the devil.
4. Punk bands are pretty self absorbed and really can't sing - they scream.
5. Fuck seems to be pretty common language among EVERYONE in the world, except the hyper religious and they do it in secret!!
6. Apparently a lot of people have no respect for authority, specifically for George Bush and government in general.
7. I saw 2 cops get the same woman's phone number within 10 minutes of each other. She was inside Riverbend standing next to the fence and the cops were on foot or on a bike outside the fence. And she really wasn't that attractive.
8. Modesty is gone for both sexes.
9. Punk and Rock music all day long with no break is too much.
10. It is amazing how teens invest so much emotion into music and "what it means" to them.

I will leave it at 10 until I remember more of what went through my head yesterday. I just thought it was all pretty interesting.

I don't think we should watch the News
The reason I don't think we should is because of something that Alan said to me once, or maybe twice knowing him. It is that we weren't made to hear and handle all the sadness and destruction and in general nasty stuff you see on the news all the time. Before television and radio how did people hear about stuff? Word of mouth. And usually a long time after the event, unless you were located quite close. Of course people knew and heard about stuff in their own community and family but all the things we hear about today isn't what we should be hearing.

I think, can't remember, but I heard about all the crap going on over in Israel just in general and quickly on the TV yesterday. Alan gave me a more detailed description this morning. I don't know that silly is an accurate word, but that sure is what I am thinking. Of course, I don't know the full details as to how many soldiers and what not, but DAMN, to just go after people like that. If it is like a couple of thousand(9-11), I think I might understand a little. Anyway, I just don't think we were meant to hear and deal with so much bad stuff. That is all I am saying.

As I get older
As I get older I am learning more and more that it is ok to stand up for myself and not let people run me over. I am also learning that I can be a bit harsh and mean too. I don't like it when I do that, as I know my family doesn't care for it either.

Well, that really is all I wanted to say today.

It's been awhile and here is my reason why....
I am what you would call a "private" person. When I am in pain, or mentally wore out, or stressed, I do not like to share that with people. I want to hole up somewhere and just let it pass without sympathy or understanding or anything from any one else. I think that might be pridefull, not sure, still working on that. I do not like it when someone complains and whines and in general HAS to let people know when they are miserable. Not taking about the one on one, friend to friend kind of sharing, but the "Oh, my aching back! (loud sigh or noise)" in a group of people and then the inevitable covert glance around the room to see how many people took notice of their plight, kind of thing. I think that is pitiful and VERY unattractive, no matter who does it. Anyway, I know why I am this way, it was how I was raised. It is a Baptist thing (that is where I see it coming from because it was prevalent in every Baptist church I went to and still see today in those born and raised Baptist) I need to work on it - A LOT!! So, I said all that to say (in a room full of people - HA!) I have been a bit stressed, wore out and mentally unstable and had nothing to say on here. I just think this is really funny that I am sitting here doing what I really don't care to see others doing.

ANYWAY, not a lot going on. If you are here I am sure it is because you came from Alan's blog so you know what we have been up to lately. Meaghan is doing really well with her arm. Went to the doctor on Wednesday and he is happy with her progress. She still needs to use her arm more but in general the bone is knitting together how he likes. I haven't gotten nearly enough stuff done this summer. There is still tons to do and yet I find myself procrastinating a lot and just sitting around and being on the computer and just about anything and everything to keep from doing what needs to be done.

Okay I find myself heading toward a pity party so I am going to quit while I am ahead.

Here is my blog. It is the thoughts and feelings of an "aging," homeschooling housewife who serves at a local restaurant. I am an average everyday normal kind of person, although my "normalness" becomes less so in today's society. Read on and enjoy or just realize you may not be the only one.
