IT's ON!! I have challenged Debi to a room cleaning dual. I hope she has accepted cause she really hasn't said, one way or another yet. I personally think she is scared I will whip her butt! So, here are the rules. We have until August 25th, that is when she goes back to school. We can only spend 15 minutes a day, no extra time. The one who has their room most in order and clean by then gets a free meal off the other one. We started yesterday and I am really amazed at what you can get done in 15 minutes. Because of things going on on Saturday, I will have to do 2 sessions today so that I can keep up. Although I don't think it will be a problem, cause I am going to win anyway. If I actually get the room done I will post before and after pictures. It is really bad and I don't want you all to see it if it doesn't get done. This should be interesting. On a more fun note - I saw, for the first time in my own yard, a hummingbird. I was ecstatic! I only saw it for a second and out of the corner of my eye - but it was there. I bought a hummingbird feeder earlier in the summer and just put it up the other day after I saw the bird. I hope to get the yard filled with things to attract them so that they will keep coming back. We saw a bunch when we went on our retreat at The Ark in Berea and I have been hoping to get more landscaping in to attract them. Bit by bit, it will get done. I guess that is all for today, I think I am going to go sit on the deck and watch the birds. posted by Liz at 8:18 AM - permalink - - July 11, 2004 VISITORS!!! I have had visitors to my yard this morning....Four of them. The birds have sown some sunflowers that I just let grow. This morning while we were sitting outside drinking our coffee we watched four goldfinch flying around and making all kinds of beautiful music. While we watched, a couple came and was eating the seeds of the sunflowers. We managed to get some pictures, not as close as I would have liked but at one point I got all four in one. The are cute little boogers. And melodious too. Meaghan is off to camp today. I will miss her but she is so excited to go. Took her shopping for last minute clothes yesterday. Want to know what department we shopped in? The boy section! Thank you God my daughter likes to wear loose clothing, thank you God my daughter likes to wear loose clothing! I kept that little chant up all the time we were shopping. We walked through the juniors section to get to the T-shirts she wanted. The shirts were so "tiny" and short. Then when we found some of those long shorts that seem to be so popular with boys and she had to try them on, I was looking at some of the "danger of showing your butt" skirts, I chanted once again. Why, in our society, is it so important to look like a postitute? And again I chant. We went to church with my In-Laws on Fathers day and there were two girls walking out in front of us. The skirts were short and the tops were tight. IN CHURCH! I remember the days of traditional church, and once again I chant. We are going to try and get the rest of the wood floors done today. Getting a late start. We went to bed a little late last night - It was after 3 - we were "busy". So, it took a couple of cups of coffee and some good brunch to even get me to this point. I think I need a nap now. I had some other stuff to say but I can't remember what they were. I guess it will come to me later. posted by Liz at 12:25 PM - permalink - - July 07, 2004 looky looky what we did!! Here is a link to what we did to the living room floors: I am actually surprised as to how long it took. It is like putting a puzzle together because you don't want too much waste. I am happy. We still have a bit more to do, but we will and it is beautiful. That is one thing off my summer to do list. Now I need to get that wall built. I am going to start buying concrete so that I can get it done before the end of the summer. Really I am. I figure if I keep saying it it will actually get done. I just wanted you all to see what we did. posted by Liz at 11:44 AM - permalink - - |

| Here is my blog. It is the thoughts and feelings of an "aging," homeschooling housewife who serves at a local restaurant. I am an average everyday normal kind of person, although my "normalness" becomes less so in today's society. Read on and enjoy or just realize you may not be the only one.
