OK, now I'm a little happy about this. Liz and I went to the Catholic bookstore today to get a family devotional for the Advent season. I've been meaning to do this for the last week and finally got the chance today. Anyway, I was going to get another one when what to my wandering eyes did appear - no, not reindeer! - Advent and Christmas with Thomas Merton!

I knew there were several books out there to use - simple guides with a Scripture reading, quoted reading (in this case from Merton) and a short prayer for each day of Advent and through the whole 12 days of Christmas. I didn't know they had tapped into big Tom for this though - yes, I just called him Big Tom, I love that man. My mind changed pretty quick after seeing this. I did compare a couple. The format of this book was better for our family I thought. This was a little gift to help me look forward to Advent.

I'm sure the format is the same for the whole series. There's a Nouwen one, and several others if you're looking for something to use. Even though Advent starts tomorrow, I'm sure you're still allowed to buy them and get started whenever. So, if you're in Lexington and you want to get this one, or something like it, head to Benedictus bookstore. They have several left I'm sure. Amazon has it too of course.
