I've been thinking about and listening to some of this Irish folk music that I've neglected for some time here lately. Another early group that I latched onto and grew to love were The Dubliners. This crew was a bit less polished than the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, a little on the wilder side. Still a very talented bunch. One of the founding members and signature voices of the Dubliners was Luke Kelly. He's another one who has fallen to sickness, but much earlier, at only 44 to a brain tumor. Luke had a great voice - wonderful resonance. And look at the man! He was a wild lookin' one. Take a look/listen at this film of a performance they did in Sweden in the early 70s I think. Good stuff. Look for more of these in the coming days as I go through some of my other favorite Irish groups and singers - good for you.
