While it's still today, I should say that I'm happy to have been married to Liz for 19 years as of this date. May 28th, 1988, St. Mark's Catholic church, Richmond, Kentucky - we were publicly joined together in the Sacrament of Marriage. And we keep being joined together. We continue to work at it, and it is work. We have eaten out two nights in a row - last night and tonight. We don't do that too often but of course, this was a special occasion. The butterflies have come and gone and come back again. Good thing that's not what marriage is about. As the woman said, here we go for 19 more, and 19 more after that.

is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus

completely irrelevant and to stand in this world with nothing to offer but his or her own vulnerable self." Henri Nouwen
