There's a little scenery from last night's evening fishing trip. The water was in very good shape. Conor and I were happy it wasn't muddy after last week and weekend's rain.Often, early in the year (well it's not early any more but) - on my first fishing trips I go alone. Last night I decided to take Conor with me. I feel like I don't do enough like that with my kids. Some of that is true and some of that is parent-guilt, but whatever, it's good to act on a desire to spend time with them. So, I did. Also, kids (and people in general) aren't lumps of flesh with no differences. On one level, I mean, boys and girls are different, m'kay. It does matter whether or not boys spend time with their Father or their Mother. These are different kinds of relationships which build into a child different good things. I have 3 daughters whom I love and one son whom I love. It's important for me to have a fatherly relationship with them all, but that relationship will be different. It does matter. That's not said to make some huge point - just talking. And so, especially in a house load of womans folk, it is important for the one son to have that Father time, and that kind of Father time. So, we went fishing last night and it was a good time. My girls love to fish too, by the way, just in case anyone decides to get excited - just chill it back. The boy also likes to cook - yeah, don't even try it. Conor hooked two fish last night too but didn't quite get them in. He did very well. He's picking up the fly casting thing fairly well. We all need more practice though - more practice is good. Crank up the fish count! technorati tags > fishing, family, fathers and sons Labels: family, fishing, personal :::
