"By waiting and by calm you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust your strength lies. Yet the Lord is waiting to show you favor, and he rises to pity you." Isaiah 30:15, 18a
By waiting and calm – That's different than most of us try to make the fullness of our salvation come, quite a bit different. We don't like waiting and most of us are not very calm. So, we wear ourselves out. We do not glean strength from quiet but from bustling around doing this and that and worrying about the other. We do not trust the Other. Our trust is in the busy work of our own hands and in the grinding of our own mental mills. That statement about the Lord waiting to show us favor really shone to me. Waiting for it. He waits in eternity, with an eternal Love that waits for His lover. He does not give up. How long will we make Him wait? Help us, Lord, to wait as You wait, and to trust, to be quiet. Give us the Grace to turn to you and allow you to show us favor.
