favorite podcasts
I don't listen to tons of podcasts but here are a few that I do enjoy and/or am edified by. Maybe some of you will enjoy them as well.

Internet Monk Radio
- this is the podcast of Michael Spencer - yes, the Internet Monk. Michael's a good Eastern Kentucky boy, an instructor at Oneida Baptist Institute, an admitted "post-evangelical," and the pastor of a small home-based faith community. He's pretty smart and insightful. Take a listen.

The Ryan Weekly - This is something I picked up in Ireland. As I was driving around there were only so many radio stations to listen to. RTE 1, RTE 2, the Gaelic station and a local County station. I picked up on a talk show that's apparently well known, from Dublin, the Gerry Ryan Show. First I thought Gerry was Colm Meany, the actor, in an interview - sounds exACTly the same. Anyway, I don't think I've even heard a more personable, empathetic and talented radio talk show host. And of course, if you're an Irish culture fan, it's fascinating to listen to Gerry interact with callers from across the country.

Daily Readings from the New American Bible - Thanks to the U.S. Catholic Bishops for providing a podcast in which you can hear the daily lectionary readings, with responsorial Psalms. It's just a very handy way to "read" Scripture on a daily basis, with the Church.

Pray-As-You-Go - A very handy prayer/meditation podcast from Jesuit media. I've only just found this recently but as I listened I found it very helpful. I think it could work as a great private prayer and guided Scripture meditation for many people. Definitely worth checking out.

KEXP Song of the Day - For those of you out there into Alternative and Indy music, the radio station in Seattle, KEXP, has an online version which I listen to fairly often during the work day. They also offer a podcast which downloads one free song per day into your iTunes. Seriously, a free MP3 song a day. It ends up being a TON of free, pretty decent music. It's worth having set up even if you decide you don't like some of it and delete it later.

A Different Perspective - I've listened to Alan Hartung's podcast, out of California, since he started it I guess. Of course none of these things have been around for very long. Alan spells his name right for one thing, and always has some very interesting things to say inside the whole "emerging church" arena, among other things.

alancreech - This guy, I must say, is AWEsome! Amazing insights and very witty. He needs to work on the "and uhm" thing a bit, but definitely worth a subscription. :)
