the trouble with that is

I'm the kind of person who thinks about everything. Perhaps I think too much - not always, but sometimes. "Why can't you just let it be Alan?" Because it's worth more than that! Letting "it" be, whatever "it" happens to be, if I am still holding onto it, is likely something I consider important enough to annoy the shit out of people over. Therefore, letting it be would not be an option.

I think the opposite problem is likely more prevalent though. That being, people don't think about things enough. We, collectively, just let things be don't we. There are some things, folks, that deserve a good hard look, a lot of deep intense thought, some hashing out, etc. Instead, we tend, at times, to just kind of "oh well" things in our lives, in the culture and flow with it. Whatever - whatever.

I don't even know why I'm writing this. It hasn't been the greatest day. It hasn't been bad. Do you know what I mean? So I start thinking of things that annoy me and what I should write and this is what comes out. I think I'll just list a few things and let it lie there. My head hurts a little bit and I'm not going to go on and on about these things.
  1. Marriage & Divorce - the lame way Christians deal with this in their lives and how some sectors of the Church give little or no help, if not push people farther in the wrong direction. Good God!

  2. Earthly Government Crap - I do understand why some Christians spend time in this arena, trying to get things done through legislation, etc., but I also don't get it. How much energy do we waste being all tied up with this business? Tons if you ask me - too much. Oh well, that's what you do isn't it? You just go with it, flow with it.

  3. Christians who don't believe in Christianity - What the hell? OK, here's a place that I don't find it necessary to wear things out. If you don't believe that Jesus was God and Man, WHY - are - you - a - Christian!? If you think Jesus died and just stayed dead and that whole Resurrection story was just that, a nice story, WHY - are - you - a - Christian!? If you have to physically explain away any miracle that is recorded in Scripture or that may have happened since then because it's "impossible," WHAT - is - the - point!? Just walk out of the Church and go be a regular old human. There is a core, folks, which has been around for a LONG time - the whole time. It's OK to ask questions but not be in a perpetual state of questioning and doubt. Faith is something to be used.
That's enough of that. We need to think. We need not to let things go. We need to not let thinking go in a bad direction. We need to use the faith we've been given.

"Then, if we cannot as yet think alike in all things, at least we may love alike. Herein we cannot possibly do amiss."

"Keep your eyes on the crucifix, for Jesus without the cross is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus is a burden without a reliever."
Fulton J. Sheen

"...I am deeply convinced that the Christian leader of the future is called to be completely irrelevant and to stand in this world with nothing to offer but his or her own vulnerable self."
Henri Nouwen
