new stuff
I told you about my new grill already. It started out with that the day before Father's Day. I've been griping about our old grill falling apart for a while, and it's Summer, and you want to cook out and have people over and I can't put charcoal in the holder thing because the damn thing is rusted out. Anyway, that's the new one - just like my old one - but the upgraded new version. I love charcoal. Can't get into the gas thing, so this is a great grill - cast iron grates, etc.

OK, then this. Oh my, do you see the beauty of that stainless steel and glass, just washed, lit by the natural light of the kitchen window? It's a wonderful thing. I'm handed this box, OF a new set of Emerilware! This is serious stuff people, made by Allclad. I AM a chef. Look at that 3qt saute pan, look at it. I broke them in last night and cooked our dinner in three of them. Good stuff.

See there? Emeril's name on there. Yeah, I'm a cooking geek, I'll admit that. And I like Emeril. I think I could hang out with this dude. I love to cook and I love to use good equipment. It does make a difference. I mean you are either natively talented with food or you're not, like a lot of other things, so that's not changing. But you can hone your craft. Good tools make a difference in the prep phase as well as in the cooking phase. If your knife won't stay sharp enough to chop anything, that kind of sucks. If your pan warps and burns up because it's cheap, thin and crappy material, you will see the results with things burning when they shouldn't, not cooking evenly, etc. Anyway, I love good things. I can't always afford to get exactly what I'd like, but you know what I mean. It's all relative - you can spend on one pan what this whole set cost. It can get a little crazy.

Oh yeah, and it came with this free extra cast iron grilling pan too - very nice for searing steaks and so forth inside. Whheeww, OK, I think I'm done. Hopefully I'll be cooking a lot here in the near future. Like I said, come on over.
