stuff this week

First thing I think of is getting to go fishing with my daughter. All the kids love to fish. Meaghan definitely loves it. So, we took off after I got off work a couple of days ago and went to the favorite spot - Silver Creek. We caught a few. There's a fish Meagh caught. She was very excited. It was a great night. We fished until it was almost totally dark and the fog was coming up off the water. Makes me want to go back.

Conor started his baseball for the Summer this week too. Practice 3 times a week - again tonight. He's having fun already. Our league is not a heavy duty high competition league. They learn to play well and have fun. It's good for him. It's funny, this 5'8.5" 12 year old towering over all the kids on his team and at least one of the coaches. The boy has grown a good bit since last year.

This Sunday the 28th is mine and Liz's 18th wedding anniversary. Yeah, it's been a while. It's been a good while. Looking forward to about 60 more - how's that? I love her. God kept one of His promises to me through her.

Ate lunch today with Will Samson. We ate at the same Thai restaurant we ate at when we met about a year ago. Good time. I suspect if it were 400 years ago, our conversation today would have gotten us both - yes, you guessed it - burned at the stake. Lovely.

"Then, if we cannot as yet think alike in all things, at least we may love alike. Herein we cannot possibly do amiss."
John Wesley

"Keep your eyes on the crucifix, for Jesus without the cross is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus is a burden without a reliever."
Fulton J. Sheen

"...I am deeply convinced that the Christian leader of the future is called to be completely irrelevant and to stand in this world with nothing to offer but his or her own vulnerable self."
Henri Nouwen
