favorite tv shows
Well, I just finished watching one of my favorite shows of all time so I thought I'd post a list of my all time favorite TV shows. I'll start in the present and move backward as I can remember.
  • ER - that's what I just watched. I've watched it from it's beginning. Still a great series.
  • The West Wing - Don't bother me here, I'm in mourning. This is a truly great television show, always has been. This one for me is on the level of addiction.
  • CSI - First the original, then Miami - haven't gotten into New York. Still watch the other two - amazing stuff, a little gross, but very cool.
  • LOST - Oh, My, God folks! Talk about crack! Good stuff there.
  • Thirtysomething - Definitely one of the all-timers. I was in my 20's when this show was on, but got married, then had kids, etc. while it was on. Great cast, writing, etc.
  • St. Elsewhere - ER's predecessor - good good stuff - gotta love some hospital drama. I was in high school when this series started.
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation - I watched the original too but I do like the Next Generation better. I still love watching this show. Gene Roddenberry was a dreamer/thinker. Always something to make you think.
  • The Waltons - My Mother always told me this show reminded her of growing up in Virginia during the depression, as she did. I always loved the Walton family, following their lives in that time and place.
  • Roots - Do miniseries count? I guess they do now. This extensive miniseries about the family history of American author Alex Haley. It brought the life of African slaves in America to life for many. I was in junior high school in '77 and I still remember the impact watching this had on my 11 year old mind.
  • The Brady Bunch - I probably watched this show more in reruns than the original airing. I was old enough for the end of it but was only 3 when it started. This was just good old American pop escapist comedy family fun stuff.
  • Batman - My favorite superhero, and not even one superpower, how 'bout that? The Batman TV show was a bit of a comedy really but enough BAM! ZAP! POW! to be exciting too. Again, reruns, but good, funny stuff.
  • Mister Rogers' Neighborhood - I've mentioned my love of Fred Rogers before here. This is early childhood, all through childhood, very good solid stuff for me. This show helped form me in some positive ways I think. Very good memories.
  • The Andy Griffith Show - Classic of classics. One of the great American sitcoms of all time. I've probably seen every episode a hundred times. Honorable mention to Gomer Pyle, USMC, spin off too.
That actually goes beyond the span of my life. I'm also sure that there are more that I am not remembering right now. Also, why I don't do a lot of linking posts like this is because it's a lot of work, crap! If I remember a couple more tomorrow, I'll add them.
