This is Father Dave. That's right. Dave Nixon is a "Father" to some of us who know him - one of the wise old ones. I have great respect for this one. The reason I mention it is that we had lunch yesterday. Dave was on his way back from a week at the Abbey of Gethsemani. He does that far more than me. Give me Grace to make time for that. He called on his way back, passing through Lexington and we ate Thai - good stuff. The food and the conversation.
I haven't sat down with Dave in a while. I really enjoyed that. It's always encouraging. Anyway, I'm glad you called Dave and we had the chance to sit, eat and talk. He needs to read these blogs more so he'll probably never even see this, much less leave a comment. We shall see. I'm sure there's more I could say, but that's all that's coming out right now. I just wanted to say a little something.
"Then, if we cannot as yet think alike in all things, at least we may love alike. Herein we cannot possibly do amiss." John Wesley
"Keep your eyes on the crucifix, for Jesus without the cross
is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus
is a burden without a reliever." Fulton J. Sheen
"...I am deeply convinced that the Christian leader of the future is called to be
completely irrelevant and to stand in this world with nothing to offer but his or her own vulnerable self." Henri Nouwen
