birthday girl Tomorrow I will have one 16 year old daughter. Wow. Miss Katey over there (a couple of years ago on Ash Wednesday obviously) was born on August 6, 1989 in Richmond, KY. Liz was still in school at Eastern, so after she was born, Katey went to college with Mommy for a little while. Head start I guess. My first-born child is a keeper. She's a very smart girl, and talented, and I love her. She's one of those creative types too, Lord help me. Ha! Wonder where she gets that from? Lots of Drama in high school (yeah I remember that) and Creative Writing, and yes, Latin! I think there will be scholarships in her future. She wants to pursue the writing thing here. I think I may be proud. We can go to Homecoming games together. Woo hoo! We'll see.
The Kate and I have a lot in common. We sat up till 1am last night listening to music on iTunes. We were like "listen to these guys" - "look for that, listen to that" - everything from mob martini swing music to punk to the Beatles. Very cool. We ran down our 5 favorite bands (or single artists) for each other. Let's see if I can remember both our groups...
ME: U2, Billy Joel, The Police, The Beatles, The Chieftains. KATEY: The Beatles, Pedro The Lion, Green Day, Frank Sinatra, James Taylor.
I love my Katey. She's not only all kinds of cool, she's a good person. She understands things about life and God and the world that many many people her age never do. If you like, wish her a happy birthday in the comments - she'll get a kick out of happy birthdays from all over the place. Peace.
