memory Now that's a good old radio. This is a "living" memory from my childhood. This radio has been in my house since I can remember. It mostly sat in our bathroom when I was growing up. My Dad would listen to it as he got ready for school in the morning (he was a high school teacher) - as we both got ready for school. Later on I would take it in my room at night as I was going to bed, in the dark, and listen to shortwave radio from all over the world - pretty cool.
I remember listening to Radio Moscow World Service, the English broadcast. Nothing like a little Soviet Communist propaganda to go to sleep on. I remember picking up the BBC as well. Of course there were stations in many languages, and marine radios talking to each other in their ships off the coast somewhere. All very fascinating for a landlocked young boy in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. It still works by the way. Needs a new antenna but picks up pretty well still. My Dad probably bought the thing when he looked something like this. Aaaah, the flat top - woo hoo! Slick!
I recently finished scanning a bunch of old family photos - this was one of my Dad from the 60's - probably just before I was born, not exactly sure when but probably in the mid 60's. I may post some of the other ones some time. I'm getting back into some genealogical research on the Creeches again so the interest in these kinds of things is stoked back up. That's all for now. Peace tonight.
