renewal
I hesitated to use that title since this is not really some big post about the concept of "renewal" or anything. I mean more a personal renewal of my commitment to pray the Office. The Office is not something I have to do. It's not a law. I think it has advantages over many other systems of prayer - obviously, or I wouldn't use it and try to incorporate it into the life of our community.

My personal point is that I have become lame in my keeping of this discipline and I want to renew myself in it. I was asked what week we were in in the Psalter yesterday and couldn't say for certainty. Again, I'm not talking about this in some legalistic sort of way (I say this only for those who will inevitably interpret it that way). But, if I'm going to "lead" this community in such things, I should be doing it - that's really secondary. I need to be doing it in my own unitive journey with God. That doesn't take place outside the context of the community so it must be included. I must encourage my siblings in this renewal as well.

So, I began last night, continued this morning and by His Grace will continue. On an aside, I've decided to add to my blog, over there in the daily prayer section, a sort of liturgical calendar guide and keep track of what week the Psalter is in for those who follow it.
