This whole emerging church phenomenon has been, for a long time, pretty much underground. It hasn't really hit most people's radar in the church at large, much less the wider society. Lately, though, I've seen some press happening on the matter. A reporter hears about it, gets interested, and decides to actually write a story on something new and odd and different.
It happened here recently, in a neighboring county's newspaper - a special edition focusing on religion. There is a fairly well done article about the "emerging church," focusing on three interviews done with some people doing such things in the area. My new friend Geoff Maddock from Communality, my good friend Peter Matthews from St. Patrick's Church and myself from you know where. It's a pretty fair look at what's happening I think. Things are hitting the press now I suppose. The word is getting out. I wonder what that will mean. What kind of effect will it have? We shall see.
