an opinion I do not hate this country on the 4th of July, it's birthday, sort of. It has faults, of course, like all other human governmental systems. And there are noble things to be said about it, like many others. I do not, though, believe it is "God's country" or even conceived by Him as the cure to the ills of our planet. I'm thinking there was already a cure pumping through the bloodstream of this world at the time. So, I do not fly its flag in triumph or as a symbol of my identity. It does not lie there. I will not take up arms to fight for its causes, nor would I those of another country with another flag. I have other business to attend to. This, already, makes me somewhat of an anomaly in today's Christian culture, especially in America. That's fine I suppose. A few of my friends have already linked to this very interesting declaration written by some Christians in 1838. Not every thought written here is my own, but many of them are - enough for me to put it before you to at least take a look at. I've taken a look at patriotism. I've taken an oath to defend the constitution of this nation. I've also taken it back, again, not with hate or malice toward it or any of its political affiliations, but in favor of another allegiance - one which requires my whole life. Peace be to all in this house today.
